So, -its been a while! If you haven't had a chance to, I encourage you to read more about our salon story over at www.IdidntPrepforthis.com. Its been almost a full 2 months since our grand re-opening party. Time sure flies when you have a lot to do. I was hoping to have some gorgeous shots from our grand opening party to share with you, unfortunately our photographer suffered a not so fun set back. So, I had to table all the fancy visuals and give you a few bts shots from my sweet camera phone. I hope that they'll do!
Its been a very busy two months. We had a lot left to put away, to unpack and to check into our inventory system. We had a lot of training for our team and a lot of behind door work to do. [i.e. redesigning email packets, updating contracts, ordering printed materials, etc.] Finally, we are 100% open and ready to rock. Its insane, I still don't feel like this space is ours yet. In the old salon, Jd and I did all the painting, the girls and I built all the furniture; I practically lived in this space for over a month this time last year renovating it. Its a little different this time, the construction happened so quickly and we had so much help. I sometimes walk in and it doesn't feel real. I'm happy, very happy. Its just taking a little while to call my own.
Also, in the last month -I've gotten a real understanding of what it's like to have a "brick & mortar" storefront. Rule #1, buy a good shovel. Something you may not have thought of [because I sure didn't] was snow removal. During the insane snow we received a few weeks ago, the city piled the snow out of the road and in front of our door.
We've had the girls in some serious training over the last few weeks. Its extremely important to me that my team is able to handle anything that they could face. I believe quality is most important in a service based industry. I can have pretty furniture all day, but if I don't have skilled and sweet stylists then I don't have anything.
What's more awesome is that our very own Phrenchie [stylist extraordinaire] is also a Mizani educator. She's been an amazing resource for our team. I think it is extremely important that my stylists are skilled in all hair textures. It doesn't stop with just this class. Each guest that walks into our space should be treated fabulously and should leave feeling great -regardless of hair texture. Its important to us. So, our girls have been training, training and more training.
Overall, things have been going well. We're excited to get back to work and to meet so many awesome people who've come out to receive services and to scope out the place. [Like cut & highlight client Sheila and Alissa's sweet bridal party!] I encourage you to check out our salon specials this month. We've got a free haircut, a girls night event and a few nice things just for you. <3 Thanks for catching up with me. Hope you are staying warm in all this snow.
